If I were to sum this movie in one word I would say: PERFECT! From the cast, the script, the directing, the editing to the musical score. Everything was top notch. Definitely the best movie for this summer. From the cast... everyone was giving their best, despite their limited screen time for certain characters, and it was undoubtedly that the star, the life of this movie is the Joker. Heath Ledger's performance was chilling and stunning. It was difficult to recognize him, the makeup that was nothing like Jack Nicholson's previous Joker indeed made it difficult, but the way he carried himself, the smallest gestures... made him nothing of the actor Heath Ledger but the Joker. It was no wonder people are buzzing of posthumous Oscar for this talented actor who left us too soon. Christian Bale was no less better than Heath Ledger, although Joker's eccentricity was kind of outshine Batman's darker and calmer personality. I rarely gave review below three stars, because usually I'm pretty selective in choosing anything to read or to watch, I rarely chose to read or watch something merely on impulse. It HAS to be worth it, the time and money spend to buy the books or the tickets. I've seen the book for quite a while, standing proudly amidst the best sellers shelves, but I barely gave it a second glance after reading the short summary behind the book. Romance is definitely not my thing. But I can't help to get curious, started from the making of it into a movie, then a friend whose opinion I trusted in this kind of thing suggested this book. So I gave it a try... and well... I can't say I'm disappointed, but well, it's definitely below my usual standard. Maybe my standard is too high, or I'm simply not the romantic type, but I can't get the hype this certain book (or series I heard) is getting. 09/02/09--15:48: Earthquakes in Java, Indonesia (chan 2612133)

The first one was 7.4 SR 144 km from my hometown, Bandung. Followed by a series of short, small quakes (three, I counted).
The second was 7.0 SR 95 km from Bandung, but still around the Hindian Sea which was at the south.
That makes me quite worried whether my city would be the center of the quake sometime in the near future. 

The experience itself was quite frightening. My hometown was in the middle of the province, rather higher than other cities in surrounding area, so earthquakes weren't exactly common, and usually it's small and barely noticeable unless your're alone enough to notice the light tremors. So my first reaction was to wait for the shaking to end, thinking it wouldn't take long to diminish, but I was wrong. The earthquake was getting stronger and longer, so finally, after few stuff on my shelves before me (I was on my desk, on my laptop) toppling down, I got downstairs and went out to the garden. 09/25/09--13:37: VK Chapter 54 and Some News of Life (chan 2612133)

 The latest development of VK, or to be more precise, the new arc of VK makes it difficult not to rant of the characters, or the story in general.

Okay, we get to see more of the political intrigue, and such. I'm good with it. But it kinda disconcerting how easily and calmly Yuuki took with it. The Yuuki I know, say the cute Yuuki we knew through the first arc, would show at least slight discomfort, at least in the beginning. But no, she's practically PERFECTLY calm and graceful.

And I shuddered. 

It just eerily reminded me of Twilight. Of the change coming to Bella after she was finally changed, after pursuing the topic for three damned-long books. (say the first book as an intro)

As much I like calm and graceful heroines, as depicted by Misaki, but in such sudden change, and just because she happened to be a pureblood... just sounds... pathetic. You can give better reason, Hino-sensei. Or maybe, she just hasn't given some more details of the change? Or she has, but I didn't not...

Well, most of my blogs are rather dead with the lack of update so I'd live it up a little before the change of year. So the latest news from me, my current status: JOB SEEKER, or you can say it's the better term than unemployed :p And considering most of my time is spent at home, that consisted mostly of sleeping, eating and surfing... I got some weight on me, my cheeks are getting chubbier XDD And I am sort of going aimlessly... I really don't know what exactly what I want, so those who has yet to graduate, I'd really suggest you make up your mind already before you do. College/university is rather the easy part compared to the life after. I'm taking it as easy as I could, but I couldn't really ignore it. I have to start planning, but I'm not a planner. I want to succeed, but I don't know how. Details are my weakness. I'm good under pressure, but I'm bad at being pushed around, I usually respond fiercely if not angrily in retaliation. And now I'm ranting... Oh well... It's kinda har...


01/01/10--08:39: IRIS - Korean Drama (chan 2612133)

Yup, as the title suggested, that's the drama I'm currently into. It's one helluva Korean Drama with its unusual and risky plot because it adopted conspiracy and secret agent theme that would remind us of TV series such as ALIAS and 24 or movies such as Bourne trilogy. And the series was truly worked on seriously with the impeccable details to the action scenes, from the blood, the guns, the fighting, until to the settings, they even went as far as taking a real take in the middle of supposedly busy streets of Seoul by blockading it.

The series started from two characters: Hyun-jun (played by Lee Byung Hun) and Sa-woo (played by Jeong Jun Hu), two close and sworn blood brothers who met in Special Forces and later joined National Security System (NSS), a secret agency whose existence only known to the President. Both of them were unknowingly fallen in love with agent Seung-hee (played by Kim Tae Hee). But Hyun-jun and Seung-hee become close and Sa-woo fights to hide his feelings for Seun...


01/14/10--20:25: Revision! Revision! (chan 2612133)

It's about the longest work I've ever done: Shades of Grey.

I decided to publish it to more readers. At least to Fanfiction.net and maybe the VK community. I don't expect to have many readers, considering that it involves Zero with someone else other than Yuuki or Kaname, but it's become one of my best works so far, if not the best, with its deep and complex story. I just want to try out whether there are more people interested, and want to simply work on the imperfections in the story.

So in order to introduce new readers to the setting and characters of this story, I added a prologue and rewrote the scenes and surprisingly from previously six-paged first part (in Calibri, 11), it became 17-paged first part. Scanning through the early half of the written story, which means half of the 31 parts I've posted in LJ, will have a lot of rewriting, some scenes might be written off, some others might remain the same, and some additions into or expansion of the scenes.

I hope my old reader would ...


02/12/10--06:02: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: the Lightning Thief (chan 2612133)

When I first saw the trailer then the cast members, I couldn't help but have high expectations for this movie, which happened to be adapted from my favorite book: the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. And so I went to the cinema, hoping for the best adaption for my number one most read book. Only to be disappointed. From the beginning, I already found a radical change from the story with the fact that Percy's existence is well-known to the other gods, including Zeus. That was the first appearance of a frown in my face. But I took it in stride, thinking it was just that, so I sat back and tried to enjoy the movie. Note the word tried. Then slowly, I got more frowns on my face. Yancy Academy appeared rather normal to me, different with the image I have in mind. And maybe because it's started from Poseidon's revelation of his son, Percy was made clear as his, started from his preference to water. 02/28/10--06:43: Greek Mythology: Hera (chan 2612133)

I've always had a thing with Greek Mythology since I was bought illustrated Greek Mythology books in my mother language. The books themselves were thin and magazine-sized. I had the Gods and Goddesses series, and some others. The illustration was fascinating to me, and still is. It's the kind of drawing you easily relate with Greeks. Of all Greek gods and goddesses, I found myself interested in Hera, the greatest Goddess, the Queen of Heavens and the wife of Zeus. 
I cannot explain why the Goddess caught my interest most. Maybe because she's the symbol of women? The one who stood equal with the ruler, the King, Zeus? However, as I grow up and learn more of the Myth. I realize how mild the retelling of the Myth in the books I read. I do realize the failings of each Immortal, despite being the higher and more authoritative being, the Greek gods are incredibly flawed, almost human. They are both better and worse than humans.

 Yup, today (April 2) is my dearest friend,   's birthday!

Shapby's my friend since my high school years and remains my closest friend (and the greatest candidate to BFFdom, if there's such a term). She is the one who first shares my love forreadingandwriting, especially the ones related to anime/manga.

I also managed to get her write fanfics and make an account inFFnet, and also managed to make her turn intoSasukexHinata fan, which I considered as one of my greatest achievements.

She's also the one I always go to whenever I need somecriticism oreditingon my writing, and vice versa.

She's the one I usually talk to, especially we're bothinternet addicts, it's pretty easy to meet each other online and we could end upchatting until we both give up (sleepy, hungry or etc.).

04/25/10--20:15: Writer's Block: Another country (chan 2612133)


I think so. It started on somewhere else, but LJ is the place where we interact most when we fail to interact through other means. 
The one I'd say a good friend is  (USA) whom I get to discuss many things, not limited to fandom stuff. Then there are  (USA) whom we both get to support and encourage one another and (Malaysia) whom I get to discuss many things about VK and their fanbrats XDD.

And nay, I've never met them in person, after all I met them through the net because distance made it difficult for us to interact directly. If we're in the same country, it might be possible.

Will I possibly meet any of them in the future? I sincerely wish so, though right now, it seems rather likely, as I have no means to meet them (go there or meet somewhere close). But we never know what the future holds. Even we might not be able to meet, hopefully, we'll remain friends until we're old and grey, laughing at our antics as we remember it.

It feels like AGES that I've written down in this journal a little piece of my life, which that's what journals are for. So to remedy that, let me share of the latest happenings in my life.

Finally, after six months or so, I got myself employed in a manufacturing company in Cikarang. The company name is Mattel. Does the name ring a bell? If not, then does Barbie ring any bells?

Yup. Mattel is an American company that produces toys, which one of their products is the dolls known as Barbie. It was the first job that I got to job offer. (FYI, most recruitments has several stages to pass before you got to be hired or offered a job. Most jobs I applied for failed in the middle, usually interview stages). While at the same time, I was also being processed for other jobs, one National telecomunication company (and another one, which I found out later) and one European oil&gas company.

 WHAT. THE. HELL.
It's been... what, one, two months from the last chapter and from each chapters release. So excuse me, if my mind couldn't catch up with the sudden twist in this chapter. 

Okay, I could get the killings of the purebloods, but killing your own and I'd say, reliable underling??!! What the hell, Kuran! And then left with such cryptic words.Really...

Which means, I have to wait for his explanation....and that might not come anytime soon. Can't a pureblood, especially an ancestor, not scheming for once?

And this makes me wonder whether to integrate the new developments into my VK fics, or just keep it the way it is by simply reducing the allusions towards the conditions after whatever Kuran is planning to do.

And I just realize I wrote of Kaname like I wrote about him in Zero or Misaki's point of view... Sheesh.

Oh well. I guess I have to reread the latest chapters of VK to get clearer picture of what Kaname might be planning, so far that Aidou-sama let him do as he wi...

Well, I have taken this test quite a long time ago, but then and  posted their results in their respective LJ, so I decided to take it again, whether anything changes. And it doesn't. I'm still ISTP. The I isn't that surprising, I've been sort of a loner and incredibly uncomfortable around too many people. The T isn't either, I've never had those infamous gut feelings that people talk about. While the S and P? I cannot be really sure. And the description of ISTP doesn't sound like me at all really. I think I've discussed this withteruame once. Meanwhile, this was the first time I tried the Multiple Intelligences test. I can see why the top three are Verbal/Linguistic, Naturalist and Musical, but I haven't really try to utilize those intelligences to their best. What do you think?

Am I crazy or what? I signed up for  

Between the craziness that is my job, and I dare to sign up to this 25,000 words fic challenge. Hah, the craziness rubs on me. On impulse, when I first read of this, I immediately thought of the rare canon pairing I actually thinking of writing. I mean rare, as rare, because the fandom is mostly unfamiliar to others and so is the pairing itself. The fandom is Princess (manhwa) and the pairing is Theodora of Anatoria and Yapha of Skarde. I read two translations for this manhwa, which is in my native language (Indonesian) by local publisher and English by Korean translator in internet. Both have different spelling when it comes to names, so end up using most of Indonesian spelling of their names and adjusting some their names and titles based on our own royalties, how they rarely used last names and how they addressed royalties, etc. So I've made an introduction as a companion to my fanfiction, because the fanfiction premise is a ...

Just to liven up this journal of mine, I posted a Saiunkoku AU fic I had in my computer. For a brief explanation, the fandom is Saiunkoku Monogatari, a story of a kingdom or empire named Saiunkoku, which resembled Chinese empire. The main character was a girl named Kou Shuurei who was poor despite her nobility. She grew up into a brilliant and self-sufficient young woman and wanted the opportunity to be a government official to serve the people, despite there hasn't been a female official ever. So when she was asked to tutor the young emperor who hasn't done his duties, she took it, even it meant she became a concubine temporarily. It became the start of her involvement with the court's intrigues as she held on to her ideals and reached for her dreams.
